American software company Business Efficiency Solutions (BES) worked on a project with the Government of Pakistan. Now BES has accused Pakistan of stealing their trade secrets. BES has also accused Chinese company Huawei in its complaint. It is said that Huawei allowed Pakistan to collect data through the backdoor.

According to the complaint, Huawei entered into an agreement with BES in 2016. BES said it has developed eight software for the project that collect data from government agencies, monitor social media and manage drones. Later, Huawei officials asked for data for testing and ended BES's authorization in their labs. According to the complaint, Huawei has not yet returned any confidential software design tool to BES.

Huawei later sought BES to install data gathering software that is used by Pakistani law enforcement to collect and analyze sensitive data from multiple sources and government agencies.

The complaint accuses Huawei of using the software as a backdoor in Lahore from China to gain access to, manipulate and extract sensitive data critical to Pakistan's national security. BES has also said that Huawei is tampering and abusing many such projects in Pakistan as well as around the world.
