The government has warned of strict action after several Durga Puja pandals were vandalized in Bangladesh.
Durga Puja pandals were vandalized in Bangladesh. According to local media reports, most of the attacks took place in the Kamilla district. According to reports, the violence broke out after a social media post purportedly insulted the Quran at a place of worship.
Temples have also been attacked in the violence in Hajiganj in Chandpur, Banshkhali in Chattogram, Shibganj in Chapainwabganj, and Pekua in Cox's Bazar, the report said. The idol of Durga was also damaged in many places. Pictures of violence are viral on social media.
A hospital in Chandpur has told that they have found the bodies of three people, about which the hospital believes that these people have been killed in the violence. However, the police have not yet confirmed whether these deaths are related to violence or not.
Bangladesh security officials have deployed paramilitary forces at the scene. The Union Home Minister has asked the officials to take action against the criminals. Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said the people behind the attacks in Kamila in Chittagong district would be traced. I doubt this incident is related to sabotage. The officers have been ordered to nab the culprits at the earliest.
