"We are perceived as toothless tigers" - Commander of the German Navy
The commander of the German Naval Forces, Vice Admiral Kai-Achim Schönbach, rattled his weapons, speaking in front of the students of the non-commissioned officer school in Plön.
According to Schönbach, in NATO, German sailors are considered "toothless tigers", which does not suit Berlin.
"It is necessary to act not only on the defensive," the vice admiral said yesterday, noting that the German frigate Bavaria sent to the Asia-Pacific region is the first step in this direction and "is much more than just a symbol."
In addition, the commander of the German Navy said that the British Royal Navy "very much welcomes" cooperation with German sailors in terms of integration with aircraft carrier strike groups.
