Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani introduced new bill in the Lok Sabha

AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi strongly opposed the bill to raise the age of marriage of girls from 18 to 21 years in the Lok Sabha. Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani introduced this bill in the Lok Sabha, to which many opposition MPs objected. After this, the bill has been sent to the Standing Committee for consideration. Speaking on the bill, Owaisi said, 'This bill is full of retractable proposals. It violates the right to freedom under Article 19. An 18-year-old girl can choose PM. If she can live in a live-in relationship, then why is her marriage right being taken away.

Asaduddin Owaisi said what you have done for 18-year-old girls. The participation of women in the workforce is less than in Somalia in our country. Earlier, presenting the bill, Smriti Irani said that till 1940 the age of girls was 10 years, which was increased to 12 years. After this, till 1978, 15-year-old girls continued to get married in the country. Now we are bringing that bill, which will give equal rights to women. Smriti Irani said that 20 lakh child marriages have been stopped in our country from 2015 to 2020. Smriti Irani said that this house cannot see the humiliation and backwardness of women.

Smriti Irani said that those who said that the bill is not secular. They should read a judgment of the Supreme Court, in which it had said that it is a secular act. Not only this, under the Muslim Personal Law Board and the Hindu Marriage Act, all women should get equal rights in the matter of marriage. Along with this, Smriti Irani also proposed that it should be considered in the Standing Committee. Meanwhile, NCP MP Supriya Sule said that these days the government does the work of bringing the bill without discussion. This method cannot be accepted.
